Comment(by xbaldauf):
I can confirm that the problem goes away when using kernel 2.6.28 (from
http://git.openmoko.org/?p=kernel.git;a=tree;h=79f8516ca4a534e42d97fe727c63eb7281be48ed;hb=79f8516ca4a534e42d97fe727c63eb7281be48ed
). This kernel seems to work for me (with Om2008.12), I cannot see any
problems.

#2197: ompower needs to be update for kernel 2.6.28

Apparently, in kernel 2.6.28, the sysfs path for the power control of the
LCD backlight changed from
/sys/devices/platform/s3c2440-i2c/i2c-
adapter/i2c-0/0-0073/backlight/pcf50633-bl
to
/sys/devices/platform/s3c2440-i2c/i2c-
adapter:i2c-0/0-0073/pcf50633-regltr.9/glamo3362.0/glamo-spi-gpio.0/spi2.0
/generic-bl.1/backlight:gta02-bl
or to
/sys/bus/platform/devices/generic-bl.1/backlight:gta02-bl
In any case, the backlight cannot controlled anymore using the old path.
Thus, ompower (as of
http://svnweb.openmoko.org/developers/raster/ompower/power.c?rev=4602&view=auto
) needs to be updated. Until then, the brightness cannot be controlled
under the new kernel.

Replying to [comment:2 Mike Kalagan]:
> There are at least two separate packages: pidgin and pidgin-data. Both
of them must be installed. Maybe you need pidgin-doc too.
Thanks a lot... pidgin-data was missing (=>It's only bug in dependency)
I was not expecting existence of pidgin-data, because it was merged with
pidgin in other version (no idea which...)
