http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=42615 Summary: The default page reads "It works!" and is unprofessional Product: Apache httpd-2 Version: 2.2.4 Platform: Other OS/Version: other Status: NEW Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: All AssignedTo: [email protected] ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED] CC: [EMAIL PROTECTED] The default apache index page is installed in the current location: /var/www/apache2-default/index.html On my system the content of this file is: <html><body><h1>It works!</h1></body></html> Also, this file has no trailing newline which is malformed. The default apache site should be informative with pointers to documentation, not a childish one line statement such as this. It looks highly unprofessional. I appreciate why the original page was removed - because too many people were contacting Apache about sites which had nothing to do with them, but there has to be an alternative to this. Even a 404 message would be better than this.
