Summary: Feature Request - Unbundle CheckCaseOnly from
mod_speling
Product: Apache httpd-2
Version: 2.3-HEAD
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P3
Component: mod_speling
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Would it be possible to split the basic CheckCaseOnly function of mod_speling,
which has a lower server load and no security issues, from the full directory
search functionality?
My shared hosting company seems to think the full mod_speling is too
resource-intensive -- and they claim they can't activate just CheckCaseOnly
without also allowing CheckSpelling.
CheckCaseOnly is really vital usability in a world where the vast majority of
Web users are used to case-insensitive operating systems.
It seems like it ought to be even a default Apache feature -- certainly not
part of a more complex and potentially problematic extension.
