HTTPD should be parsing the DNS answer looking for the specified query type (in
this case, PTR). It should not assume that the first answer is of the desired
type. The answer given by DNS for a DNAME is proper per RFC 2672: It's
returning the DNAME record, the optional synthesized CNAME (which should have a
TTL of zero; this one doesn't), and the synthesized resulting record of the
query type requested. As there is a PTR response, it is available and should
be used - even if it wasn't the FIRST answer record.
By the syslog entry, I assume that HTTPD was confused and didn't understand the
reply. That needs to be fixed.
