I can't do a recommendation given your time constraints, what I can tell is that if the Windows approach indeed avoids the (re)start failures, it however does not preserve the state of the balancers accross restarts (including graceful). So things like load distribution, error states, ..., are reset/lost, as if it were the first startup.
