Things seemed to have settled down somewhat. I have been running
ApacheBenchmark with up to 50 concurrent connections and it seems to be
processing and closing them fine.
I think the slowdowns are originating from the SQL server not Apache.
I need to leave it running for a few days to make sure it is stable. How things
were before it would randomly start maxing out the CPU after a few hours or a
few days.
So I will report back in a few days time if things are still working correctly
or not.
