Summary: Windows service fails to start when ServerConfigFile
(-f Option) is an UNC Path
Product: Apache httpd-2
Version: 2.4.61
Hardware: PC
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2

Dear Core Team,
!!! This scenario worked for previous versions, i.e 2.4.53 !!!
My server config file is located at
"\\server005.fritz.box\httpd\conf\apache2.conf" and contains lots of references
to UNC locations over environment variables.
In the registry section of the correspondig service the REG_MULTI_SZ ConfigArgs
is '-C "UNCList server005.fritz.box" -f
\\server005.fritz.box\httpd\conf\apache2.conf'.
The service fails to start with the following message in the eventlog:
Protokollname: System
Quelle: Service Control Manager
Datum: 02.11.2026 16:12:38
Ereignis-ID: 7024
Aufgabenkategorie:Keine
Ebene: Fehler
Schlüsselwörter:Klassisch
Benutzer: Nicht zutreffend
Computer: SERVER006
!!! This scenario worked for previous versions, i.e 2.4.53 !!!
When I start the server with the exact same configuration and options as a
console process, it succeeds. In addition, if I wrap the console startup in a
nssm definition it works as well.
The service is authenticated by the same user as the console process.
Regards
Michael
