        Architecture: OpenBSD.amd64
        Machine : amd64
 >Description:
When trying to upgrade to OpenBSD 4.8-beta on an USB stick, the install
isn't possible. During booting there are several long delays, emphasized by >>>
<<< markers in the dmesg. When fsck runs on the root partition nothing seems to
happen (no blinking light on the USB stick) and it ends in status FAILED. I
noticed afterwards that the dmesg is for i386 but I already removed the
temporary serial console so I only have i386 output at present. I also tried to
boot "1 Aug" snapshots for i386 and amd64, both sh owing the same symptoms.
I can still boot the CURRENT system currently installed on the stick.
Having the stick attached to another system (with 4.8-beta installed on an IDE
drive) showed similar delays during boot with additional "ehci done" messages.
mount failed after a delay (probably a few minutes) with "mount_ffs: /dev/sd0a
on /mnt: Input/output error". disklabel failed (with a very noticeable delay)
with "disklabel: ioctl DIOCGDINFO: Input/output error". The stick seems to be
there though totally inaccessible.
Full system information is available on request.

  sysmerge(8) can help.
