Hi I am attempting to install OpenBSD on a SunFire V100 UltraSparc 2e. This machine has OpenBSD 4.7 running on it, and is overdue for upgrade! (I have two other identical machines running 5.5 and 5.6).
I cannot boot from CD - either cd57.iso or Install57.iso. I get the message "file does not appear to be executable". I assume this is the bug reported as 001, which says "use another install method". I have tried copying the bsd.rd from that cd to partitions on both wd0 and wd1, and get the same message. I am not aware of any method of installing that does not use bsd.rd. Is there a way to get a copy of bsd.rd that is not corrupt? (if that is the problem). If that is not the problem, what is? Suggested fix/workaround: The FAQ for bug 001 be updated to suggest a viable method of installing. regards Andrew Grillet OpenBSD user on Sparc/Sparc64 since 2.x, and contributor.
