>Synopsis: playing video makes system unresponsive, but keeps playing
>Category: system
>Environment:
        System : OpenBSD 5.8
        Details : OpenBSD 5.8-current (GENERIC.MP) #56: Wed Nov 4 19:13:26
CST 2015

[email protected]:/usr/src/sys/arch/amd64/compile/GENERIC.MP

        Architecture: OpenBSD.amd64
        Machine : amd64
>Description:
When playing any video, such as in VLC or in Firefox, the system
becomes extremely laggy to the point of it being unusable.

In Firefox, usually the video will continue playing but will be
very lagged behind the audio (which sounds fine). It does not drop
frames but continues trying to process them all, making things
very out of sync after about 20 seconds. The cursor is slow to
move while it's playing but it still responds to input.

Thinking it might be related to Firefox, I just tried playing a
video file in VLC and the system became completely unresonsive.
There were no screen updates, the cursor would not move, but audio
continued playing. I hit Ctrl+Alt+F1 and after about 5 seconds,
it went to a black screen but no console text.

I switched back to Ctrl+Alt+F5 and the screen redrew very slowly
over a few seconds. SSHing in from another machine and killing
the vlc process restored some screen activity, but it is still
extremely laggy. Typing or moving the mouse cursor takes about
20 seconds to actually reflect on the screen.

This is also how it reacts after resuming from suspend. The
screen is very slow to redraw, even when no video is playing,
and it never seems to catch up. A reboot is required to fix it.

Right now it is in this state but if I switch back to a text
console, it responds to text input as normal. X11 is still
        very lagged.

There is nothing logged to the kernel ring nor Xorg.0.log.
