Hello.
OpenBSD 6.0-current (GENERIC.MP) #127: Tue Jan 10 21:40:04 MST 2017 [email protected]:/usr/src/sys/arch/amd64/compile/GENERIC.MP On vmware esxi 5.5, latest amd64 openbsd snapshots, I get kernel protection fault trap after a few minutes of running on the newly updated system. After a reboot and fsck, the vm will run for many days without issue. But rebooting onto a future new bsd.rd and updating will sometimes give another protection fault. What other information could I give ? the vm is left at the ddb prompt. clean reinstall ? This vm runs a bind nameserver. amd64, 8 vcpus, 4 gigs of ram kernel protection fault trap, code=0 Stopped at fd_getfile+0x20: testb $0x2,mptramp_gdt23_desc+0x1e(%rax) ddb{4} trace fd_getfile() at fd_getfile+0x20 fd_getfile_mode() at fd_getfile_mode+0x14 sys_read() at sys_read+0x42 syscall() at syscall+0x27b --- syscall (number 3) --- end trace frame: 0x0, count: -4 0x8e448c066c9a: ddb{4}> ps PID PPID PGRP UID S FLAGS WAIT COMMAND 50954 94528 50954 0 3 0x10083 poll top 87795 1 87795 0 3 0x100083 ttyin getty 4479 1 4479 0 3 0x100083 ttyin getty 47805 1 47805 0 3 0x100083 ttyin getty 29203 1 29203 0 3 0x100083 ttyin getty 94258 1 94258 0 3 0x10008b pause ksh 61672 1 61672 0 3 0x100098 poll cron 39072 1 39072 741 3 0x98 sigwait named 39072 1 39072 741 3 0x4000090 thrsleep named 39072 1 39072 741 3 0x4000090 thrsleep named 39072 1 39072 741 3 0x4000090 thrsleep named 39072 1 39072 741 3 0x4000090 thrsleep named 39072 1 39072 741 3 0x4000090 thrsleep named 39072 1 39072 741 3 0x4000010 named 39072 1 39072 741 3 0x4000010 named 39072 1 39072 741 3 0x4000090 thrsleep named 39072 1 39072 741 3 0x4000490 named *39072 1 39072 741 3 0x4000010 named 83602 1 83602 99 3 0x100090 poll sndiod ---cut---- ddb{4} show panic the kernel did not panic ddb{4} show proc PROC (named) tid 77474 stat=onproc flags process=10<SUGID> proc=4000000<THREAD> pri=82, usrpri=82, nice=20 forw=0xffffffffffffffff, list=0xffff8000ffffa258,0xffff8000ffffad58 process=0xffff8000222c8020 user=0xffff800022332a000, vmspace=0xffffff013e690300 estcpu=32, cpticks=7, pctcpu=5.23 user=0, sys=2, intr=0 ddb{4}> ddb{4}>show buf vp 0x74497f38633b4406 lblkno 0x307303482a74ff30 blkno 0x1b8e18944 dev 0x89415 441 proc 0x9066669066669066 error -443987883 flags 10ec8348e5894855<AGE,ASYNC,BUS Y,CALL,INVAL,RAW,WANTED,DEFERRED,WARM,COLD,DMA> bufsize 0x2440634838478b48 bcount 0x66c3c031c9028948 resid 0x9066669066669066 data 0x7f8d48fb894853f4 saveaddr 0x9d56e810ec834848 dep 0x1fe18300000001b8 io done 0x21d0f7e0d31fe1833 dirty {off 0x246b832c end 0xc4834801} valid {off 0x5c415b10 end 0xca89c3c9} ddb{4}> ddb{4}> show registers rdi 0xffffff013e7036f0 rsi 0x5 rbp 0xffff80002232edc0 rbx 0x1 rdx 0x5 rcx 0xffffffff818d1950 sysent+0x30 rax 0xdeaf4152deaf4152 r8 0xffffff013f7d28a0 r9 0 r10 0 r11 0x246 mptramp_gdt23_desc+0x2244 r12 0x5 r13 0xffff8000ffffa488 r14 0xffff80002232eec0 r15 0x3 rip 0xffffffff81180600 fd_getfile+0x20 cs 0x8 rflags 0x10282 mptramp_longmode+0x1da rsp 0xffff80002232edb0 ss 0x10 fd_getfile+0x20: testb $0x2,mptramp_gdt32_desc+0x1e(%rax) ddb{4} OpenBSD 6.0-current (GENERIC.MP) #127: Tue Jan 10 21:40:04 MST 2017 [email protected]:/usr/src/sys/arch/amd64/compile/GENERIC.MP real mem = 4278124544 (4079MB) avail mem = 4143812608 (3951MB) mpath at root scsibus0 at mpath0: 256 targets mainbus0 at root bios0 at mainbus0: SMBIOS rev. 2.4 @ 0xe0010 (364 entries) bios0: vendor Phoenix Technologies LTD version "6.00" date 04/14/2014 bios0: VMware, Inc.
