I saw nothing in the firmware settings that I believed would
help.  The newest firmware version available is FCKT99A from
late 2020, which it already runs.

For comparison, suspension and hibernation work properly under
Debian GNU/Linux, and suspension works inconsistently under
FreeBSD.

Could the fact that it is running on an external SSD connected
via a USB hard drive dock have anything to do with it?
