You're right! It was all bullshit. I think my email was confusing mentioning the commit. Testing that commit was the reason that I wanted to run the snapshot in the first place. I grabbed a 250GB Samsung 860 EVO SSD from the stash to test on a host that I already knew was running 7.9 without any issue. It turns out, the SSD was bad. I don't know how. It passed SMART's long text. I can write zeroes to it. checksumming the whole drive is consistent. But it was the problem as I swapped it for another SSD and the snapshot is now working perfectly. I'm also happy to share that the 4162 Opteron actually seems to have NRIP Save support, and VMM is working just fine on it! Thank you, Theo and Mike, and I'm sorry for the bogus bug report!
