What binutils and gdb versions did you use?

GCC 17 would be the head from git. GCC's 
[schedule](https://gcc.gnu.org/develop.html) has releases next year.

The Microblaze is trailing on GCC version right now. If we bump it to a hash, 
it will be ahead of every other target. That may not be as bad as it being so 
far behind since that cause its own set of issues. This would require some 
discussion but I am not opposed to if offhand. It's going to be an odd version 
no matter what we do.
