This seems to happen only:
* on Mac OS X (I can replicate it there, but not on linux)
* when the connect to the master fails
and drives the process to high CPU usage. A dtruss doesn't show any
syscall activity going on.
I can replicate this in 0.8.3, and not in 0.8.1, so I'm bisecting now.
