Duration: Till 11/12/2010 Rate: $60/Hr *There will be an in person interview after the phone screen.* *Must have media industry experience* *Must have good comm skills Must have all required skills.* *Position Description* The Developer is a member of the Media Asset Management development team. This team builds and maintains mission-critical video production systems for the CNN television networks. Sample projects include media asset management systems, digital video archives, and catalog/search systems. The Developer will work closely with other members of the development team through the full systems lifecycle including requirements capture, design, development, testing, and deployment. Qualified candidates will have previous experience building medium- to large-scale, mission critical production systems that directly support essential business or technical functions. Practical experience in the key disciplines of object-oriented software engineering including OOA, OOD, OOP, and testing of OO systems is required. Since managing video assets stresses many elements of general purpose computing infrastructures, the Developer is required to have solid system engineering (e.g., technical and application architectures, database, operating systems, networking) skills in addition to application development skills. Very strong working knowledge and heavy duty experience with Java and J2EE is also necessary. Strong Spring, Hibernate, JMS, a plus. Understanding of design patterns and agile software development methodologies is preferred. *Qualifications (background, education, experience, and other requirements)* " BS in Computer Science or related field required; MS in Computer Science or related field preferred " Ten or more years of application development experience " At least five years of Java/J2EE experience " Java 1.5, JDBC, XA Transactions, Hibernate 3.3.2, Spring 2.5.6, EHCache 1.6.1, Glassfish 2.1, Oracle 10.2, Quartz 1.6.0 " Must fully understand transaction management and database connectivity between the JDBC driver, hibernate, spring, glassfish and oracle. " Expert solving issues with connection leaks in the Java / Spring / Hibernate code, at the driver level, container level, etc. " MUST understand how the transaction manager works in Glassfish or containers in general and XA Transactions with JMS / JDBC in particular. " MUST understand declarative and programmatic transaction management in Spring 2.5 with Java. " A deep understanding of multi-threaded programming is helpful. " Knowledge of database caching with EHCache and hibernate required to help troubleshoot caching bugs at the java application layer.
