*We have 2 openings for UNIX Administrators. One is a long-term contract in
Boston, MA and the other is a 6+ month contract in Bedford, MA.
Communication skills are absolutely crucial. *

*The Boston position requires AIX, Solaris, SUSE Linux, EMC SAN, and
Veritas.*



*Job Description: *The Unix Engineer will be involved in the design,
development and maintenance of MFS' large enterprise UNIX environment
consisting of multiple versions of AIX, Solaris, and SUSE Linux. The
infrastructure consists of enterprise Sun and IBM hardware, EMC SAN storage,
Veritas clusters and Veritas replication, Oracle RAC, Sybase, MQSeries,
WebSphere, Maestro, BMC Patrol, PeopleSoft and NetBackup.



Considered subject matter expert in the area.

Knowledge of multiple technologies on more than one platform.

Strong knowledge of multiple technologies, platforms, and programming
languages.

Solid understanding of Systems Development Life Cycle models

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with employees at all
organizational levels.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.

Strong organizational and financial skills.

Proven ability to manage projects efficiently and effectively in a well
organized manner.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related technical field.
Master's degree or equivalent preferred.

Ten or more (10+) years of related Information Technology experience with
UNIX system administration in large heterogeneous environments ans 5+ years
experience with the VERITAS Product Suite including Volume Manager, VERITAS
VCS clusters, VVR Replication.

Hands on experience configuring VCS clusters, TCP/IP routing, NFS, DNS,
Sendmail, NTP, SNMP, SAN storage, Oracle RAC, and performance tuning.





*Required Skills for BEDFORD requirement:***

*The Bedford position requires Red Hat Linux, EMC SAN, WebLogic, and Apache.
*



7 to 10 years experience in a System Administration capacity, working with
Networking and Server technical infrastructures.

Working knowledge of Linux/Unix based operating systems (particularly Red
Hat).
Expertise in Unix/Linux servers and operating systems as well as some basic
understanding of Windows Active Directory/Operating Systems.
Basic Ethernet Internet working knowledge.*
*WebLogic, Apache, Oracle knowledge and support.
Experience in working in team-orientated environments.
Demonstrated experience with larger networking practices and infrastructure
are a plus.
Demonstrated basic understanding of TCP/IP and Ethernet inter-networked
environments.
Understanding of Apache, sendmail, and bind DNS are essential.
Familiarity with Systems Administration duties such as disk storage
management , memory, hardware and software configuration.
History of providing and adhering to *best practices* processes and
procedures in a documented format.
Demonstrate an ability to make decisions that ensure quick resolution of
events and to provide recommendations and expertise to enhance system
performance and availability.
Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
Database Management (Oracle/MySQL).
VMware.
Experience with Nagios, MRTG, and Cacti.
