it is indeed the same species but both are dry 
season forms. there is almost continuous 
variation between the wet season and the extreme 
dry season forms of subspecies medus shown in my 
pictures, with some specimens lacking the white 
band and spots altogether, to some having the 
white band but eye-spots obscured. your images 
capture that variation beautifully.
