The way I like to install things like this is with a relay or relays that can handle the load, with current hooked direct to the battery through
the relay(s) and then make the ignition switch in the car connect the relay. that way the radios come on and off with the key and have plenty of current from the battery only when the car is running. in my Tahoe I went one step further and put a toggle switch to turn the relay on when my key Is not on.. but I have to make sure NOT to leave this on overnight. Normally I just let the radios come on and off with the key.
