Of course there are outliers like me with electric "vehicles" and no
ignition switches. J I still have to find time to get over to ROCS for you
or Dwayne to install my secondary 7000 on my wheelchair. That will be an
interesting challenge; it will mainly be a VHF/UHF installation, but with
the HF connection accessible for occasions like Field day.

The way I like to install things like this is with a relay or relays

that can handle the load, with current hooked direct to the battery through

the relay(s) and then make the ignition switch in the car connect the
relay.

that way the radios come on and off with the key and have plenty of current
from

the battery only when the car is running.

in my Tahoe I went one step further and put a toggle switch to turn the
relay on

when my key Is not on.. but I have to make sure NOT to leave this on
overnight.

Normally I just let the radios come on and off with the key.

Subject: [BVARC] Automatic Power Off

This morning, there was some conversation about radios draining a car
battery.

This devise was mentioned in the TS-480 yahoo forum:

I plan to purchase one or more of these to use for battery/mobile ops.
