Ah. Mystery solved, I suppose. I couldn't remember who originally encouraged me
to run so I was going to be hard-put to substantiate telling anyone. I did make
three transmissions to Bill stating the same thing not five minutes later as he
wound his way to the meeting. I’m pretty certain I identified during that time,
but I think we can agree that my “voice” is unique, at least on Amateur Radio.
Odd that Bill never acknowledged.

I already said by implication that I have nothing against Scott, I’m sure he’ll
do fine. I do believe though that the DX’ers and contesters had adequate
representation on the BoD before the election. I’m not so sanguine that
rag-chewers like myself could say the same thing. That’s really why I decided
to run. To be very clear, DX’ing and contesting are perfectly valid aspects of
Amateur Radio, and we already have a “fraternity” to nuture those activity. I
certainly welcome them into BVARC as well, but I think clubs like BVARC need to
maintain a broader appeal. Someone within the last few days has advocated on
34/94 that “maker” type projects are needed to attract kids. Maybe. I’m
certainly not going to build hardware, but software might well be another
matter! In any case, the point is that no one or two interests can dominate a
general-interest club like BVARC. My joke regarding merging TXDS and BVARC was
meant to be a reminder of that (and I hope I have resolved any confusion,
Willie).

Bill and Scott:

This was an error on my part. I talked to Scott on the way to the meeting
and during the conversation Scott mentioned he would like to run for the 2 yr
position. I said I would mention it at the meeting. When I got there I got tied
up in the set up of the Chili Dinner and it slipped my mind. I appoligize to
you Scott and If at all possible Bill could we add Scott's name to the 2 yr at
large list? If that is not possible as per the rules then I apologize to you
Scott. Yes there are some people in both clubs that are on both BOD's. But that
does not mean we should join the clubs at the hip. TDXS is a specialty club and
those that belong to it have a very specific interest while BVARC has many
general interests with in the Club. Some of the members of both Clubs are
interested in things that both Clubs do and have a right to join both. I am a
member of ECHO, BVARC, PECG, ARES, and RACES but that does not mean that all
those clubs should be one. Again Scott I am very Sorry that your request
slipped my mind.

I am not understanding the statement you made below about BVARC and TDXS with
exception to the 2014 KK5W Tri Club BVARC, TDXS, ECHO Field Day and 2013 KK5W
BVARC TDXS joint club Field Day effort.

Per the nomination list Rick a past BVARC Prez headed up the position of
Election Chairman and did a great job as has been done in the past for creation
of the list. The candidates were chosen from that list and also opportunity was
given for nominations from the floor at the general meeting. NO floor
nominations were given or relayed. Notice as per Bylaws was given in the timely
manor of the elections and procedure with instructions given in our newsletter,
email reflector and HF/VHF Nets. No written notice was received by me of your
nomination request as any that would be sent to me would forward to the
Election Chairman. BVARC would have been delighted to add you to the ballot if
we had notice of your intent.

I guess you didn't hear me last night (and nobody told you), but I did
volunteer for the 2-year at-large position. Oh well, Scott will do just as
well. Perhaps we should merge BVARC and TXDS and have done with it.

Greetings BVARC,

Per BVARC bylaws we did NOT reach a quorum of 25% of membership to vote in new
BOD members. A list of those who wished to serve was presented to membership
with NO nominations from the floor. A poll was taken of the membership at the
meeting and All present approved the list of candidates to be voted by your
Board of Directors for appointment to fill the 2015-2016 positions. As one BOD
member was absent from the meeting this will be done at the December BOD
meeting. As we know some had disruption of their plan to attend the meeting.
Life happens and we understand. I wish to thank ALL BVARC members that came out
to vote. We missed the Quorum by 12 members. Chili cook off was fantastic
fixings. Thanks to those who brought out a great chili to serve up.

The list of candidates is as follows for BOD appointment…. 73 Bill WS5H

VP: Mike Hardwick – N5VCX

CS: Michael Monsour – AC0TX

Treasurer: - Bob Tomlinson – N5JSL / Stephanie Vessley – K5SFV

2 Year at Large: Scott Medbury – KD5FBA

1 Year at Large: Darrell Kirk – KC5JAR / Jo Keener – KE7NSB
