Perhaps saying that the manual could use some improvements is an understatement!

True, I doubt if I would want it for a motorcycle… but in the Prius, it has
been just fine.
I did not use any software or other external methods to program it.
It was ‘entertaining” to set up various functions.
BTW: The time-out timer defaults to 30 seconds.
That was the first thing I changed.

Fun cheap throw-down rig.
I would get another, and most of the eham reviews on it really aren’t that
harse.
Overall it got 3.2/5.

Reviews on the Leixen W 898 are not good. That is why there is not one already
on the Goldwing motorcycle.

This 10W (max) Chinese Leixen VV-898 $135 dual-band mobile xcvr is so small, it
is about the size of some front panels. I’ve been running it for a few months
now.
It actually works OK and sounds excellent on the air.
The manual could use some improvements though…

Is there a 2 Meter FM (ONLY) Mobile radio with front panel separation? I
don’t need the other bands or modes, just 2 Meters - FM, but mounting the head
only would be great.

Any recommendations welcome. Thanks…Rick – W5RH
