Just listened to Rick in an interesting QSO on 94. As he points out, the 7300 is liable to have the ICOM interface that ICOM users are accustomed to (read: switches and knobs). It's funny in a sad way how reluctant many hams have always been to accept new ideas. (I'm old enough to vaguely remember the pissing and moaning over single-sideband on 75 meters.)
I have a Flex 1500 I haven't seen in months. I bought it thinking surely all Flex radios were smart enough to come with VOX (I can't use PTT). The Flex rep I exchanged email with agreed that adding VOX wouldn't add anything to the 1500's cost, but excluding it provides just another point to upsell on. Humbug! Their products and service have improved in the last two years, but I'll say no more on that. As for a $1,500 Flex radio to compare to the 7300, there isn't one because it's really apples and oranges. 73, Gary On 8/30/2015 15:46, Scott Royall via BVARC wrote: All I know is that my Flex experience has been very disappointing from a customer service perspective.
