The Oak forest Amateur Radio Club helped set up radios at Cockrell Scout Center
on Saturday Oct 17.
Unfortunately something in the area interfered with HF communications but UHF
was clear and easy.
We tried the 146.94 repeater and stayed there all day.
Some of our visiting scout leaders and curious operators commented on how
polite, friendly and patient the people “on the other end” were with each the
boys.
One of our boy scouts is profoundly deaf, but you stuck with him and helped him
complete his radio merit badge.
I wanted to thank all the operators that took time to talk with our cub scouts
and boy scouts.
We could not have planned a better demonstration of the spirit of amateur radio.
