In Deer {ark and Pasadena, were lucky to get 2 bars on 3g cell service
during middle of the day & both ATT U-Verse and Verizon Internet slows
to a crawl until early hours of morning, the TV reception never fails to
go out sometime during 5 or 6 p.m. newscast, causing need to reset TV &
hope it comes back on... ATT U-Verse Internet is slower than DSL
Internet I had on Bellaire Blvd, 2 blocks from phone company (Now the
apartment complex gone, nothing but 2 blocks of dirt surrounded by chain
link fence..!

Sorry Scott, took that a different way than what you meant. What you
say is true, depending on your definition of the current Ham Radio
operations scenario.
It is just that I run into NO CELL SERVICE quite a bit where I spend
my OFF time…..
Rick
What do you mean by that? Sprint and iPhone(ATT) are both cell based.
BTW travel to East Texas and in some large patches there is no cell or
even AM broadcast.

That's a sad commentary on the state of Amateur Radio to me, because
you're SOL if you don't have cellular coverage.

Gerry,
For the price of a screwdriver antenna and installation cost, you
can remote your 7100 with your home QTH. You can run power and use
your beam antenna.
The remote head stays in your car and the main box stays at home.
I do this with my TS-480 and RemoteRig equipment. Most people I
talk with don't know I am operating Mobile Remote (MR).
