Bill when I look at your antenna I think back to when we put 146.81/21 repeater
on the air on the 1000 foot tower near Alvin, but also near the Pearland Gun
Range and in Friendswood.  We needed to lash 500 feet of 7/8" hardline to the
tower from the base to the antenna at 500 ft.  We used lengths of solid core
#12 house wiring long enough to lash where we attached the feed line to the
tower and it seemed to work well.  We had the line up for about eight years
without failure.  For your app, it would take shorter pieces, maybe 6: or 8
inches.  You can cut a length or two to see what it will take.  The single
strand solid core wire is available at any Lowes or Home Depot.  Take about
three tight wraps around your feed wire at each insulator above and below the
insulator.  Tie wraps, particularly the white ones are very susceptible to UV,
so if you use tie warps use UV resistant black ones, but even they need regular
replacement.  If you want to discuss, call me at 832-630-1799.  I am in Santa
Fe and have a big antenna so I can contact you directly on 10, 6 or other HF
bands. Willis 'Cookie' Cooke,
