Guys- I am sure that some of you have done something like what I am about to describe, and that the prices have changed slightly. The project below can also be accomplished with a large metal plate, but while it would be stronger- it would probably cost more. I have done this in the past with one 10 or 12 ft. section of 'standard' television mast to support a small yagi, a Cushcraft model A270-10S ( dual band ), I believe. The flange should be mounted about one foot from an edge if the anchor will be a vehicle tire. This rig should make 2-3 years if kept outside, much longer without summer rains. Tell "Homer" that I said "Hi" .... .. Enjoy- KB0MNM 73

Posted by: "Chris Parfitt" parfitt527 James (and for anyone else in the group who is interested): Here is the link to the plans I used - http://www.qsl.net/wr9a/counterpoise.htm The credit should be given to W9RA for posting the design on his website. The one change I made, was using all green PowerPole housings instead of different colors; cable identifying tags were used to distinguish between the six lengths. I keep a small laminated card with the Z-817; one side has the counterpoise segments by band, and the other side has the approximate whip length, and coil tap positions for the 1899T. The counterpoise segments work well in other settings too, as I have used it with an end-fed long wire. Good luck, Chris, AC4MP --------------------- No trees were harmed in the production of this message, however, a great many electrons were terribly inconvenienced. _______________________________________________ BVARC mailing list [email protected] http://mail.bvarc.org/mailman/listinfo/bvarc_bvarc.org
