Hi Bill,

I agree with your assessment of inverter v. traditional alternator generators 
in general - the only gens I still have are inverter type.

But for short-term ops in the field, consider a properly-sized deep-cycle 
battery augmented with a 200-watt solar panel.  No noise (RF or AF) or exhaust 
fumes.  The tech for both batteries and solar IS here - and is only getting 
better.
