A suggestion for all SSB operators who want Jon to upload their field day
dialogue into N1MM, I would suggest using your phone with an app like “Twisted
Wave.” The microphone on most quality smartphones is made to record legible
messages. I have used by iphones and android phones for recording interviews
and live reports. Belileve me, the microphones in these phones are good enough
for a ham message (even for the hallowed K3 transceivers). Record the script
according to Jon’s suggested script or come up with your own (as a wave file)
and then attach it to your email to Jon to his suggested address, and don’t
forget to thank Jon without criticizing his kind efforts.

Except this is a script; for clarity things are done script wise. Live with it.

And QRZ, QSL as well as CQ are written as they are spoken.....NOT Cue Are Zed,

Calling CQ FD should be (From someone who has been in FD for 40 yrs):

"CQ Field Day CQ Field Day, callsign....callsign phonetically, Field Day"

Also need one "QSL good luck in the contest, QRZ Field Day <callsign>"

Just a note for future reference.

Jon,

Please swap the order of the exchange message. It should be "8 alpha South

I have now figured out how to use the voice playback feature of N1MM Logger+ to
send prerecorded messages to the Elecraft K3. The N1MM programmers did all the
hard work, and then craftily hid the instructions in the N1MM manual, a mere
844 page document.

At any rate, anyone who sends me a simple wave file with the right words can
have his own voice prerecorded and the requisite messages available at the push
of a function key on the computer.

I'll do the hard stuff, like equalization, compression, normalization and so on
and make sure you are all set. Why your own voice? We don't want to confuse the
ham on the far end of the QSO with a voice that sounds different. Your voice
files will be called up when you long on with the Control-O command in N1MM.
Attached is what I have recorded for myself. You will use the same words, or at
least nearly so.

You can use any recording program you want so long as it can produce a .wav
file. Windows "Sound Recorder" works fine. Try to use a good mic in a quiet
location to make the recording. Here is what you need to record

* Seek you Field Day kilo kilo five whiskey
* We are Sierra Tango X-ray eight alpha
* Thank seventy three Cue Ess Ell?
*       Cue Are Zed?
*       Say again?
*       Class and section again?

This can be all in one file with very brief pauses between phrases. Make sure
to include your FCC call sign, as that is what you will use to log into the
N1MM program to start your session logging.

The exchanges are brief and to the point. If you want to chat, come to Museum
Ships Weekend.

Attached are some samples in my voice...

Send your recording directly to me at [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]>

I'm waiting...
