When you talk about an inkjet printer from 10-15 years ago and one today, you have to realize that the dots per inch back then were close to 720. Now, they are around 2880. There is a big difference in squeezing ink through a hole the size of a basketball and one the size of a golf ball. It is very difficult to clog the 720 dpi hole but your 2880 hole will clog easily. Keep that in mind if you are looking to change your ink with today's modern printers vs printers from days past.

Printer ink is the most expensive liquid on the planet. I have 2
printers both HP and one occasionally gives me problems but is

other is new and under warranty and I only use the real McCoy.

Every time I have used generic cartridges, my HP printer has
failed after a short period of use. I replaced with a Canon,
but their ink is just as expensive as HP, and not found at all
vendors. Plus, the printer I chose failed sooner than the HP I
have been using for the past 5 years.

I do not replace the cartridge very often, but always pay the
“extra” for a genuine replacement to get good quality and
        longevity.

My HP ink jet printer died. Replaced with a Canon.

I have 6 HP generic cartridges, XL63, some Color, some Black.

        Takeaway.
