If you happen to be a Veteran, do not forget that Congress allows all
Veterans on this November 11, Veterans Day, to join and purchase from
the Exchange online. You must pre-register to verify that you were a
Veteran. After that, on November 11, your data will be loaded in the
exchange database and you will be able to create an online account and
start purchasing. All orders are tax free, they match prices at Amazon,
Walmart, Target and many other stores. Orders over $49 ship for free and
under $49 are a flat $5. Pretty good deal. I have been purchasing from
them since July when I was invited to Beta Test the program.
go to shopmyexchange.com and click on the vet verify (getting started)
on the right side of the screen. Then on Nov 11, return to
shopmyexchange.com and create your online account. You can also create
an account at mynavyexchange.com and purchase there. Although I find
that the Navy exchange has less than half the items the the
shopmyexchange.com has.

Our efforts to form the Texas American Legion Amateur Radio Club in
Houston have finally become reality. Will you come celebrate with us
on our very first Veteran's Day on air event?
We will have a free breakfast taco breakfast at the American Legion
Post 942 on 311 Ulrich St (just North of the sugar mill) on November
11, 2017. We will start the breakfast line at 8:00 AM and will have a
short presentation about the functions and goals of this new veteran's
oriented ham radio club. Our presentation will conclude about 9:00
to 9:15. We will transition to the operating event at 9:30AM.
The Fort Bend County Emergency Operations Group will provide the
county's comm trailer for us to us during this event. Our station
will play the relay role in the five station special event. The
primary special event station is K9TAL. It is located in Indianapolis,
Indiana.
