You built a 20m dipole and it did not work? That I do not understand!?!?

And who needs to solder? You can either twist the wires together or you can
use some sort of clamp or crimp connector to tie the wires together. A
dipole is the simplest antenna you can put up.. if you can't make that
work, go back to the beginning and start over because you seriously missed
something.
