Question....can you hear those stations that can't hear you? If you can't hear them the antenna is a solution. If you can hear them then the amplifier is a solution.
Try a Heathkit SB-200 or Yeasu FL-2100B....both will easily run 400 watts or even more. $250 to $350. That first jump from 100 to 400 makes a big difference. The next jump to improve 1 S unit is 1600 watts. Run compression on xmit and take that to the limit, even going over some times to get thru. Even Ameritron 811 and 811 H are in that ball park $ range sometimes. BTW, what 80 meter antenna costs $700 ? Maybe a 2 or 3 element wire beam in the right direction might help. How about putting up a vertical and having a switchable antenna system depending on where the stations are. Closer in NVIS, so a low dipole works OK. Further out, low angle from a vertical would work better. Always best to have more than one antenna in your shortwave projector arsenal. GL....RH .
