Be sure if you add any ground rods to your ham station, you bond (connect) that
grounding system to your house electrical ground rod. If not you increase the
likelihood you equipment will be damage in event the lightning strikes the
power lines. Robert

Static charges from wind on an antenna wire are not serious in this part of the

static charge.

My station has the correct grounding and I still remove the antenna from my
expensive radio.

Thanks, but what about static charges caused by wind hitting my antenna? Is
that also a concern?

Thanks

A definite requirement. Just like unplugging your equipment in a lightning

Subject: [BVARC] Grounding my station

I heard wind can generate static charges on my antenna that can damage my
radio. I haven't grounded my station yet. Is this a big concern or is it minor?
Also, are there precautions to help prevent this before I get my station
grounded?

Thank You
