The balun works best at the feed point of your antenna. I also like to add an
RF choke below that to cut down on feed line carrying RF on the outside to your
rig, and another RF choke at the rig if the antenna is a Windom.

I'm looking for some advice on a antenna project that I'm working on. My
question is is it better to have your Balun at the base of the antenna or at
the feed point of your antenna elements? Second question is what is better in
in fed or a fan dipole?
