Hey Jeff, Yea I monitor channel 16 in the main radio below deck and on the portable “HT” topside when in Galveston Bay and in the Gulf. Interestingly, channel 16 is also monitored when sailing off the coast of Sicily, Italy.
Either way, when we make contact in 16, we immediately switch or QSY to 69, 70, or one of the other designated channels in that neighborhood. 73 & keep sailing!
