About a month ago I came across an old video from one of the Greater
Houston Hamfests and Allen Mattis was giving a demonstration on making
satellite contacts. Unfortunately I didn't see this post until today
while I was looking for another BVARC email.
Thank you for everything you have done for BVARC Allen. RIP

Allen came over and watched and thought it was kinda cool. Need I say
that was all he needed to get hooked. We remained friends ever since.
I too went to his house many times and knew his family. I took him out
to lunch a few years ago and spent the afternoon with him.
He was a BVARC president as was I. It was wonderful to have his
friendship and to talk about all his satellite operating exploits.
He will be missed but not forgotten.

activities. I have been to his home several times and he to mine many
times socially. Despite his illness, he was present for the services
for my wife Priscilla in January. I was unaware of his passing am
glad Larry Brand sent the word out.
