I've updated the triage page[1] to include the system clock:

"check system clock and set it, if necessary"

There are at least 24 hours between the time a system gets triaged  
and gets setup/configured.  A check of the system clock at the  
beginning of the setup would show if the time is still correct (or  
close).  If not, then the machine needs a new battery.

How would one do that in Debian or Edubuntu or other distro?  Does it  
matter that the machines may be off-line for an extended period of time?

I already cannibalized it.  Actually, I wiped it clean and put  
Edubuntu 6.06 on it.  Looks nice.
