It is with regret that I find my Board has put me in the position of tendering
my resignation from BWorks. Since January my Board has required me to forward
to them all correspondence on topics involving myself, non-profit issues, and
other subjects involving BWorks, including this email.

I have been specifically instructed by my Board that the following must be
included in this email and in this format. My forced resignation from BWorks is
being required of me for the following reasons:

  1. The apparent reluctance of BWorks to correct issues with its
organizational structure, handling and tracking of its finances, indemnity
issues with BOD members involved in day-to-day operations (I have further been
specifically instructed by our Board Attorney to say that when they were
informed that BWorks solution was to call their insurance agent and not consult
an attorney on this issue that was the final straw for that person and they
were the deciding vote), and lack of certification in core competencies for
youth non-profits by key management personnel.

  2. The recent running thread with certain volunteers over including
instructions on how to end a recurring donation (whether under BWorks control
or otherwise) showed a deep lack of knowledge on the part of key BWorks
volunteers in the areas of non-profit administration, development, and
fundraising. Unfortunately, the President of the BOD of United Way also saw
these emails and has expressed his concern on this subject to my Board.

  3. The lack of control over the organization by it's management and Board of
Directors. The most recent example of this being the Isaiah 58 arrangement and
its handling.

  4. No defined roles and oversight within the organization for programs and
managment.

There are other issues that my Board has expressed concern over but this is
what I was instructed to include in this email. I apologize and assure everyone
that I had no choice in this matter.

Good luck and best wishes in your work with BWorks.

  Sincerely,

  John Wurth
