Mathew,
Since I had to leave the meeting yesterday, I really appreciate this post.
Everything you propose seems "right -on" except the proposed Community
Discussion forum. I have no problem with it if it is to be used strictly by the
people involved in the byteworks shop and nobody in that group is under the
impression that a post to that forum, equates with a post to the BWorks_Staff
Group. I would also be concerned if the subject forum is open to the public.
There is too much "Dirty Laundry" being hung out in public as it is. I have no
problem with it being hung out, just that it is indiscrete to hang it out there
for every web crawiling device to discover and catalog for all eternity.

          Howdy folks.

I know I covered a lot of material at the end of the day, and I'm sure
everyone was coming down off their sugar high by that time, so I
wanted to review and recap some of the items.

Shop cleanup and reorganization.

As I see it, there are three parts to this project:
[1] more shelving/storage
[2] organize, organize, organize
[3] cleanup of the build table

Brad has offered to more or less handle the shelving aspect, although
I'm sure an additional body wouldn't hurt. Brian says he can "swing a
hammer." Perhaps he can operate a cordless drill with little risk to
his extremities? ;) There is some lumber in the basement, however I
am unaware as to the quality or the quantity, and we almost certainly
have no plywood. Therefor a trip to Home Depot/Lowe's/et cetera will
be in order.

Regarding the organization, this will entail another couple of folks
to shuffle the contents of the shelves. Given our limited space, I
don't think we'll be able to empty them all at once. Any volunteers?

The build table has unfortunately become the depot for tons of
miscellaneous stuff. It needs to be cleared of all these misplaced
items, which should be much easier once we have the designated and
clearly-labeled locations for everything. After tidying, each of the
five "stations" needs its respective connections neatly bundled.

Network infrastructure work.

This will not be as labor-intensive. Most of the cabling is already
in place, and will just require some moving about. However, I'd like
a couple folks who would be interesting in learning how to manage the
firewall we'll be putting in place. Bill has already stepped up and
raised his hand. Also, if I could have a metaphorical "show of hands"
for all those folks who either have or would like remote access to our
network, it would be appreciated.

I had a question/concern or two regarding the retail space.
[1] We need an updated price list.
[2] Someone suggested we post an "accepted donations" list in the
store.
[3] I think we should advertise on craigslist.

The first two items should entail some buy-in from the
"Enterprise" (sub)committee I believe.
If Dan A is still managing our "e-tail" presence, I think the third
naturally falls to him.

Lastly (for now) ... I asked the group for opinions regarding a
replacement for Yahoo! Groups. One of the options is a community
discussion forum. I have set something up for testing/review here:

http://bworks.hyperfocal.net/forums/

Please feel free to register, login and post away.

Thanks!
-Matthew
