I disagree with your disagreement: crashing lets you know that something
is wrong and needs addressing, while silently ignoring errors more often
than not leads to behaviour that appears to be influenced by the phases
of the moon and voodoo ("successfully failed to get key from seahorse,
here is an empty one, anyway").
