Confession - yes, I was (incorrectly) thinking LPDWORD was pointing to 64 bits. 
However, the cumulative changes I made have definitely resolved a random seg. 
Perhaps the fix is the +1 as per MS documentation.

I would say that using "int" is poor, and switching types is poor coding, and 
so I would still recommend taking the change (at some point).

Sorry for the delay but I have other work priorities.
