Scott Cantor commented on XERCESC-2257:
---------------------------------------

My recollection FWIW regarding the ports...I thought a Xerces port predated me
adding xml-security-c and the Shibboleth stack ports to the tree. I don't know
if there was an active maintainer, but I think my impression is/was that I kind
of stepped in to help with it and that it was just kind of a "going along with
the macport maintainers dealing with it" state at the time.

I say that mainly due to the volume of dependent ports it seems to have, I
don't think that was likely to have happened over the last decade alone.

So I didn't feel I had a clear right to go in and just deprecate it myself,
though I was planning to do that for the rest of mine once I had the time to
look at it.

> Software linking with libxerces-c-3.3.dylib fails to work:

> This was reported to MacPorts here: [https://trac.macports.org/ticket/71304]
> This is a regression; 3.2.4 didn't have this problem.
> Surely for version 3.3.x on these lines {{3_2}} should be changed to
> {{{}3_3{}}}?
