Regarding event handling: this IS a special kind of event handling. Just one that is not queued. But then you won't always work with event handling systems like Windows anyway. So don't fixate yourself on mechanisms like message queues on certain operating systems. Forget about software interrupts; these have been in heavy use under MS-DOS and are still in use on some operating systems, but not under Unix, not under Windows, and not on mainframes. Plainly spoken: don't use them as long as you can avoid them. Regards, Nico
