The usual setup I've seen is motors that have some kind of PLC controller on them, and you just hook it up on serial (RS232) port on your computer and communicate through that. Alternatively, you could use some kind of transistor as a switch to turn the fan on and off (again, using some pins on serial port to give or take a way the electric current), but if you need to be able to control the fan's speed, you would surely need something more sophisticated like PLC. -- Milan Babuskov http://www.guacosoft.com
