This is something I'm doing at the moment in Hi-Tech C using a PIC microcontroller (18F4331) and my own hardware, the application is 230V fan speed control.
An off-the-shelf solution would be two motor drives but if you want to build something look at these; http://www.irf.com/product-info/imotion/ http://www.irf.com/product-info/datasheets/data/irams06up60a.pdf I attended a most useful seminar on motor control last year run by International Rectifier. What will you run your code on and do the motors required independent speed control (for ball direction perhaps)?
