I can think of one reason - a person might have a delicate development 
environment set up where installing a new compiler/IDE/scripting 
language causes the owner of said development environment to take three 
weeks to repair the damage.

For most people, there is no problem though.  They don't have years and 
years of legacy code and compiler "mods" to deal with.
