But as a general knowledge kind of thing, when you open a file, there is a pointer that points at the current location in the file. When you read data in, the pointer is updated to point to where you left off. In the case of text files, which are generally read line by line, the pointer gets updated to point at the beginning of the next line after you read a line of text in.
