Yes, this language is imbedded in the operating system of the HMI product. The fact that they refer to it as C-Like (not C, not C++) has always caused me to wonder what it's really based on. Seems improbable that they would create their own language from scratch to serve there needs.
Your "general knowledge" seems to explain why there is no visible incrementer of the line of the text file to read. I'll have to keep looking for why the compiler doesn't like my code.
