You can't just assume the screen shouldn't be cleared. It's an asumption that 
really shouldn't be made--there may be a very valid reason why the OP wanted it 
clear.
Without knowing that, you can't safely assume that it shouldn't be done because 
someone said they wouldn't use a program if it clears the screen.

  Why do you *want* to clear the screen? Most CLI tools don't.

  Would you want 'dir' or 'ls' to clear your screen before telling you
  what's in that directory?
